Guard Program & Officers
Guards act as the official greeters to The Bridges while providing a private and safe environment for residents, members, and their guests. The community's Guard Program governs points of entry, entrance procedures, and emergency response.
Program last updated June 1, 2023.

How visitors are admitted
Club members & homeowners
-
A window decal sticker identifies members and homeowners for access. The decal should be placed in the lower corner of the windshield on the driver's side of the vehicle.
-
The Guard Officer stations themselves outside the guardhouse to offer a personal greeting while opening the gate. Residents and members are the gate's first priority — if a resident pulls up behind a visitor, the resident is waved through.
-
Radio contact on Channel-5 with the Outside Services Team confirms the arrival of each Club member and guest going to the clubhouse.
Guests with advance notification
-
The Main Entrance officer is provided a list of expected guests each day. Only those listed will be admitted.
-
The officer confirms the guest's name appears on the list. If not, a call is placed to the Club or resident for confirmation.
-
If the sponsoring member has arrived, the guest receives a Guest Pass with the sponsor's name and current date, plus directions to their destination. Guest Passes are disposable.
-
If the sponsor has not yet arrived, listed guests may enter the community and wait at the Golf Shop, Sport Centre, or Grill. Golfing guests do not have access to the course or practice facilities until joined by their sponsor.
-
If the guest is not on the daily list, the officer exhausts all efforts to confirm the visit. Without confirmation, the guest may wait on Aliso Canyon Road for the sponsor, or return later.
-
A Guest Pass authorizes the holder to visit the specified destination only — it does not authorize free movement around the community. The pass must be posted on the driver's-side windshield and is property of The Bridges; it must be returned on request.
Permanent guest list
-
A Permanent List of recurring guests authorized by the homeowner is maintained in the guardhouse computer system. It is the homeowner's responsibility to provide the Guard Director with names to add or remove.
-
Permanent-list guests are greeted, asked their names, verified against the list, and issued a Guest Pass for the appropriate duration.
-
If a guest is not on the permanent list, the Guard Officer must telephone the homeowner for approval before providing access. If the homeowner cannot be reached by home or cell phone, the guest is turned away.
-
Only individuals with earnest money on deposit or who have completed the purchase of a home site may enter the community without an escort. The Sales Team provides authorized buyers' names to the Guard Manager.
-
Only vendors or business associates with confirmed appointments are considered visitors and receive a Guest Pass. The officer records the guest's name, company, vehicle, destination, sponsor, and time on the pass.
-
For vendors who visit the Club regularly, an authorized vendor list is maintained at the guardhouse. A Guest Pass is valid for that day only.
Bridges team members
-
All Bridges team members are issued a name tag and vehicle decal sticker. Team members must wear their name tag while on the premises, and the decal must be placed on the lower driver-side corner of the windshield. Team members may enter only at the main gate.
-
Vehicle decal stickers are color-coded and changed periodically to validate current employment. The Guard Director coordinates the program with the Bridges Club administrative department.
-
Team members may enter the community only when coming to work, picking up paychecks, or for Club business — unless otherwise authorized.
-
Team members must request permission in advance from their Department head to bring guests into the community. Authorization is added to the daily guest list, and guests must remain in the team member's company at all times.
Service vehicle policy
-
Private guard or monitoring services are admitted with the homeowner's authorization. The County Sheriff is admitted in response to a resident's home alarm activation. Bridges Guard investigates all alarm activations called in to the guardhouse.
-
Recognized delivery services (UPS, USPS, FedEx, Amazon), newspaper delivery, and utility providers (cable, SDG&E, water district, sewer, communications) are admitted to the community. A traffic notice is provided to the driver.
-
All food delivery drivers must provide proof of a valid driver's license. As a designated private property, The Bridges is authorized to request valid ID before granting access. No admittance without a valid driver's license.
-
Delivery hours: 7:00 AM – 8:30 PM, 7 days a week. No delivery admittance between 8:30 PM and 7:00 AM unless specifically authorized by the Guard Director.
-
Delivery trucks for the Authorized Vendor List use the delivery entrance to access the clubhouse. Oversized trucks are directed to the West Construction Gate. The driver receives a vehicle Guest Pass, map, and traffic notice.
-
Furniture and similar deliveries to individual home sites require advance arrangement. Homeowners must call the Guardhouse with the delivery date, time, and company name.
-
For unannounced deliveries, the officer calls the homeowner for permission before admitting the vehicle. A Daily Activity Report (DAR) entry is made for every delivery regardless of destination.
Real estate & club membership tours
-
Real estate agents who do not represent a homeowner must be approved and escorted by a homeowner's agent. They are issued a Guest Pass.
-
Real estate agents must escort all prospective clients into the community and accompany them for the entire duration of the tour. The agent and clients are issued Guest Passes.
-
Individuals interested in Golf Club membership may not enter the community on their own. Admittance must be granted by Club Management.
Officials with proper credentials
-
Fire Marshals and State, County, and City officials are admitted for official business. Private investigators and undercover agents not affiliated with the Sheriff's Department are not allowed access for any reason.
-
Law enforcement officers may enter at any time when they provide a reason for the visit and identify their designation. They must enter through the main entrance unless authorized otherwise or responding to an emergency.
-
If an official or process server with proper credentials is serving a summons or subpoena, a Guard Officer escorts the official to the address. Once contact is made, they are escorted off the property.
- To serve a Bridges employee, Guard notifies Human Resources before escorting the official into the community.
- To serve a homeowner or resident, the Front Gate verifies credentials and identification, then notifies the resident. If the resident does not want the server to come to their home, they may meet the official at the main gate. If the resident refuses contact, Guard informs them that the official, by state law, has the right to enter and come to their front door.
Issuing vehicle passes
-
Vehicle Passes are issued for the time required to complete the job, and are not to exceed one month at a time. The Guard Officer renews expired passes.
-
Before issuing a pass, the officer obtains the following from the person requesting entrance:
- Name of resident, company, or contractor
- Worker's full name
- Vehicle license number
- Brief description of vehicle
- Approximate time required on the job (sets expiration, not to exceed one month)
-
For domestic help or service personnel, the pass carries the resident's address and a personal service code:
- HK Housekeeping
- GS Garden Service
- MS Misc. Services
- PS Pool Service
- CT Caretaker
- LS Landscaper
When something happens
-
Officer contacts authorities immediately
The Guard Officer contacts the proper authorities (fire department, police, etc.) as soon as possible, then contacts a Bridges Club representative from the emergency contact list located in the emergency response log.
-
Incident Report within 24 hours
Following any emergency, the officer on duty completes an Incident Report and submits it to the Guard Director within 24 hours.
-
Residents: call 911, then the gate
If a Bridges team member, homeowner, or contractor has an emergency, they contact 911 first, then call the guardhouse to advise that an emergency vehicle is en route and give the location. Officers use maps available at the guardhouse to direct emergency crews to the destination.
This page reflects the community's published Guard Program (last updated June 1, 2023). The Association's official Guard Program governs in the case of any discrepancy. Procedures may be updated by the Guard Director and the Board.
